Pamela Tolbert Rivers

Author

Pamela Tolbert Rivers received her doctorate from Teachers College, Columbia University. She also possesses degrees from Brown University, Regent University, and Mississippi College. She writes in a number of genres, including fiction, non-fiction, and academic writing. At Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference, she participated in the NEH Summer Institute Four Centuries of Struggle: the Southern Civil Rights Movement. Additionally, she is a 2013 National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development excellence award recipient and member of the 2017 Harvard Women in Education Leadership cohort.


Pamela is the President of Steps Beyond Remediation, an organization that supports adult students of color, as well as adult students with limited means. Her recently published book, CAPTURE MY HEART, EDUCATE MY SOUL has garnered national attention. Her debut novel is now with Carolyn, and a second novel is in progress.
